The San Juan Gypsy Bag is a blend of indigenous weaving technique and contemporary color and design concepts. Made from sturdy, backstrap woven San Juan textile. Lined with two inside pockets; one roomy zipper pocket for cosmetics or valuables, another open pocket ideal for cell phone or easy access. Coconut shell button closure. The San Juan Weaver’s Group is made up of Tz’utujil women who weave using backstrap Ikat, an ancient labor intensive technique of hand tying and dying threads in elaborate patterns. Their style of weaving uses textured cotton thread which softens with each washing. Bag is 12x12 inches with 35-inch strap.
