Single-sheet art paper in great colors! Tree bark is beaten into a paste, a binding agent is added, it's formed into sheets, and then dried in the sun. Ancient Mexicans used Amate paper to record important information necessary for science, commerce, and administration. Today, Amate paper making survives in many villages including San Pablito Pahuatlan. The paper is used as a medium for painting as well as magic and ritual, and as an item for trading. Sheets are 15 1/2 x 23 in.
